Locals to nominate special people in the community
With a host of superhero films wowing audiences everywhere, a Hyde shopping centre is calling for people of the town to nominate a local legend who deserves a ‘Marvel-lous’ treat, with the launch of the ‘Hyde Hero’ competition.
Ever wanted to do something special for that family member who looks after everyone? Or how about a work colleague who hasn’t had a day off in a long time? Maybe your best friend is always there to offer a helping hand? Well, now is your chance to put a deserving person in the spotlight for a chance to win a Google Home device and Kindle with Clarendon Square Shopping Centre.
Paula Wood, centre manager at Clarendon Square, said there is nothing like feel-good stories to bring people together. “We want to remind everyone of Hyde’s strong community spirit, so we’re launching this competition to reinforce the message that the town is full of exceptional people.
“Hyde Hero offers the opportunity to acknowledge all the wonderful local people who enhance the lives of those around them. It might be someone close to you or perhaps an individual who you don’t know personally, but you’re appreciative of the difference they make in the town.
“We all know someone who is completely selfless, humble and goes above and beyond and deserves some recognition. There’s no time like the present to tell us who is a total legend in your eyes, so we can celebrate them.”
To nominate a superstar member of the community, simply send the full name of your hero along with the reason why they deserve to win to [email protected] no later than Thursday 24 May.
The shopping centre team will then select three finalists, with the public invited to vote for their winner on the Tameside Reporter, Glossop Chronicle and Oldham Reporter Facebook pages early next month.
