Hyde Musical Society gave a thrilling show preview at Clarendon Square
A local theatre group entertained crowds of visitors at Clarendon Square Shopping Centre over the weekend, with show-stopping snippets from its new production, ‘Bonnie & Clyde: The Musical’.
On Saturday, 24 February, Hyde Musical Society took to the mall to belt out feel-good numbers from its highly anticipated musical adaptation of Bonnie & Clyde. Members of the cast wowed passers-by ahead of the official opening night on Tuesday 20 March at Hyde Festival Theatre.
Paula Wood, centre manager at Clarendon Square, said the performances went down a storm and created an electric atmosphere on the mall. She said: “It was a wonderful treat to have a sneak preview of the upcoming musical. It was impossible for people not to stop and listen to all the fabulous songs, which were really infectious.
“The cast are very talented and inviting them to Clarendon Square was a lovely way for musical theatre fans to see great work happening locally.”
Bonnie & Clyde will be the group’s one and only performance of the year, a tradition it has held for the last 78 years. Gavin Chadwick, from Hyde Musical Society, said: “Saturday was absolutely brilliant. We work incredibly hard to put on an unforgettable show and the reaction we received from Clarendon Square shoppers was hugely encouraging and exciting.
“The show opens next month, and we can’t wait for people to see the whole production. Tickets are available now at £14 per ticket and they are selling well, so we advise to book sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment,” said Gavin.
