It would be criminal to miss Hyde Musical Society preview of Bonnie and Clyde

Shoppers at Clarendon Square are in for a treat this weekend when Hyde Musical Society takes centre stage on the mall for a sneak preview of its upcoming production, Bonnie and Clyde.

On Saturday 24 February, the award-winning cast from Hyde Musical Society will be performing musical numbers – every thirty minutes from 10.30am until 3pm – from its dazzling new show, which opens at Hyde Festival Theatre on Thursday 20 March and runs until Saturday 24 March.

Paula Wood, centre manager at Clarendon Square, said its visitors would be able to enjoy a sensational musical score written by the very popular Frank Wildhorn, composer of musical theatre favourites such as Jekyll and Hyde and The Scarlet Pimpernel.  She said: “We’re thrilled that Hyde Musical Society will be at the centre entertaining our shoppers with this exclusive preview, as we know how much people wait in great anticipation for its annual show.

“The story of real-life fugitives Bonnie and Clyde is an absolute classic and I’m sure this will be a crowd-pleaser. This is a great showcase for encouraging the public to get tickets for the show.”

Hyde Musical Society has been putting on one performance a year since 1940 and this year’s show has a strong cast of 21 performers. Julie Wilkinson, Chair of Hyde Musical Society, was looking forward to giving visitors a taster of the brilliant ride the musical takes.

She said: “Bonnie and Clyde is our follow-up to The Addams Family from last spring, which was a wonderful success. With us being just weeks away from the curtains opening again, we’re very excited to be coming to Clarendon Square for this special performance.

“We hope shoppers will come and see the show, which will be a mix of rockabilly, gospel and blues,” Julie said. “Our lead characters are played by two fantastic actors – Sophie Lord and Nick Ward – who I’m sure the crowds will be very impressed with. We can’t wait to see everyone get taken away with this epic story.”

A box office will be available during performance to book tickets. Alternatively, please call: 0161 478 4634.
